Boy's Campout -- From Danny's point of view

Danny, Bob and Aaron went on a whirlwind tour of the national parks in Southern Utah last weekend. Danny wants to tell what happened. I'm just the scribe.

This is Newspaper rock. I liked it, it was fun seeing it, but it had gates that said "Don't go through the gates". Then we had to go to the bathroom there and it was a STINKY bathroom. It had lots of flies and a live cockroach!

It was fun climbing on these rocks.

One time I tripped on a rock and my knee got all dirty and then the dirt came off and it started bleeding a lot. Then dad used a hand wipe to clean it. It's a scab now.

We got transformers in our happy meals 4 times on the trip. And then we went an extra time with our whole family when we got back. Now I have 5 transformers from McDonalds.

Aaron really wanted a stuffed Jack Rabbit from a store, but it was $12 and dad didn't want to spend all his money on it. It was a really cool Jack Rabbit.

Girl's Weekend!

The boys all went camping this weekend from Saturday to Monday. So Rachel and I had a girl's weekend at home. Rachel loves one-on-one time and she loves to plan a full schedule of events whenever she has to chance. We went to ice cream, played horses and playdough, went swimming and watched movies. We also went to the movie theater and out to lunch with our next-door neighbors, Sandy and May. On Sunday I even got to curl her hair. She doesn't like spending much time getting her hair done, but I told her this was my weekend too and that's what I wanted to do, so she let me and she looked so cute. We had a great weekend.

Rachel's Dance Recital

The blog is looking pretty lopsided in favor of the boys. And I realized I never put anything on about Rachel's dance recital. It was in June, right after we got back from our trip. She loved being on stage. She said she was a little nervous but it was fun. Her best friend, Jaclyn, did it with her. And afterward she got flowers and we went out to ice cream. She had fun but she said next time she wants to do gymnastics or soccer.

Just like Dad!

I went shopping yesterday for church clothes for the boys. It's always a disappointing venture because unless it's Christmas or Easter time, I can never find anything. And Bob has been telling me I need to get them a little more dressed up than the polo shirts they usually wear because I hate to iron. He wants to make sure they won't throw a fit when they get older and have to wear a shirt and tie. So, while I was out, I found these cute sport jackets on sale that the boys can wear in the winter. I had the boys try them on to see if I got the sizes right and they were ecstatic! Never have my boys been excited to try clothes on. But the boys love them! Aaron was dancing around chanting "Just like Dad, Just like Dad!" and I told Danny they're for the winter and he said he gets cold at church so he should wear his right now. Good try, we live in Las Vegas. I don't think we'll have a problem getting our boys to dress up.

California trip

Last month we had a great vacation. We dropped the kids off at my mom's house in Visalia, then Bob and I went to Catalina Island off the coast of Southern California for 4 days. Then we went back and got the kids and my mom came with us back to LA, where Bob had meetings the next week. My mom and I took the kids to the beach while Bob went to work. Then we did fun things in the evenings like swim in the hotel pool and visit the LA temple grounds.

Here's a our photo album from the trip.

Boxing Boys

The boys set up a boxing ring in the playroom and even went a few rounds. Luckily no one was hurt.

Aaron has some style. He gets it from his dad
