I don't have any pictures for this post. But we celebrated New Years with the Deans' also. This time they came to our house. We had dinner and played games and had a few fireworks. It's so great that we can just get our two families together and we have plenty of people for a party!
On New Year's Day we celebrated Kwanzaa. It was so great! Earlier in December Rachel had talked about how they were learning about all the different holidays at school and she mentioned Kwanzaa and all the principles they celebrate. One of them was cooperative work. What a great holiday I thought! We told the kids we had a surprise for them. That was probably the wrong thing to say because we had told them that a few days before and then we took them to the breakfast buffet at the Aliante casino with the Deans. So they were a little overly excited when we got them together and told them "Joyous Kwanzaa!" They were confused and then we told them we were going to clean the whole house together and they were disappointed. But they all eventually got into it. We spent 4 hours and went room by room and cleaned and organized everything all together. When we were all done and the house looked amazing, we all went to the movies and saw "Rise of the Guardians". (It's pretty great that our whole family can sit and enjoy a movie at the theater). I think Kwanzaa is going to be one of our new Christmas Break traditions.
